Frequently Asked Questions
We are sure that you have many questions you would like answered before enrolling on one or more of our courses.
Below you will find a series of frequently asked questions. Just click on the question to see the relevant answer.
If you cannot find the answer to your question, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
1. How long does it take to complete a course?
It depends entirely upon the time a student can allocate to complete the coursework. In other words, the course is student-paced. There are no time limits or pressures to complete your course material. On average a student will take anything from one to three hours of work per lesson. For short courses remember you still need to complete the question paper after each module.
2. How am I assessed throughout the course?
By means of assessments that need to be completed after each lesson and submitted to your tutor for marking via e-mail. This enables your tutor to monitor your ongoing progress. Some assessments are made online.
3. What form do the tests/assessments take?
They vary from true/false, a single word, a single paragraph, to a couple of paragraphs.
4. How do students submit tests for assessment?
Every time you submit a test paper for marking we acknowledge receipt thereof. We then pass it on to the tutors for marking and students normally get feedback from the tutor within 5 to 6 working days. In the meantime you are welcome to continue with your other lessons. Test papers are submitted via e-mail to your tutor. For short courses, you may submit your work either by post or by email and you will receive your results via post within 5 days of us receiving your answers along with your next question paper.
5. Do students obtain a qualification once the course is completed?
Once you have successfully completed your final exam the College or Institution that provides the course awards you your qualification. These colleges are recognised by various associations and you will therefore be able to apply for membership to these on the basis of your qualification. You will receive a Dunelm Associates Certificate on completion of any of our short courses.
6. Do I need to attend any classes?
No, you don not HAVE to. But if you would like, we can arrange a time for you to meet with your Assessor. All the courses are specially designed to be taken in the comfort of your own home. However, our dedicated team of tutors are always available to deal with any queries you may have.
7. How difficult are the courses likely to be?
Since the courses are written and structured especially for study at home you'll find the course material is written in a clear and easy to understand format.
8. What happens if I need help?
Help is always on hand. Simply e-mail your tutor and your query will be dealt with promptly.
9. Do I need any additional study material once I have enrolled?
Full study material is provided when you begin a programme with us, however, students are encouraged to do further reading as well.
10. Where can additional study resources be found?
The Internet and local libraries normally provide a large source, but students can always contact their tutor for additional sources. This is usually by means of email.
11. When do the courses start?
As we do not operate a strict term by term academic year, students can enrol at any time of the year.
12. Are any previous qualifications required to enrol on a course?
Most courses are open to all, so previous qualifications will not be necessary. Where they are required, it will be noted on the website and webpage pertaining to the specific course.
13. Are there any further costs involved?
Once the course has been paid for there are no further costs involved EXCEPT when a student fails a module assessment more then twice. After which, a small fee will be charged at each additional attempt but only a fee of administration usually between £10 and £25
14. Can I do more than one course at a time?
Yes, this is possible and you will find that it creates a steady flow of work for the student. It would be easier if the chosen courses are complementary to each other and work well together. Students start with one course and very quickly find how easy it is to study from home and move on to the next.
15. Can I enrol from anywhere in the world?
Of course! The courses and programmes we offer are available to students worldwide. They cross all geographical boundaries and require no previous knowledge from the student.
